Critical Rating: AA

You can dress the boy up in satin and ribbons.  You can adorn him in silk and spinach for that matter.  You can put him on a boxcover and under just the right intersection of shadow and light, of color and fortune, make him look as hot as a firecracker.  But that doesn't change things as far as this video is concerned.  Rod Garetto really looks terrific on this video's box, standing smooth and dewy against a steel pole, his white boxer shorts damp and inviting.  The boxcover is great.

However...Shot on one drab "fantasy" set that is decorated like a locker-room but lit like a mortuary, The Rod Squad is below Catalina's usual standards.  Garetto is the best part of a weak cast, but his entrance, 25 minutes into the video, has him just sort of wandering into a scene already in progress between LaMar and Scott.  The set is heavily laden with smoke machine mist and Rod rumbles into the picture looking like a supertanker whose radar has gone awry.
