"If you were raised by missionaries, are a Young Republican, use perhaps a tad too much styling mousse... this is not the group for you," warns the narrator, who promises viewers a look into the "Lifestyles of the Perverse and Degenerate." Clearly, performer-turned-director J.D. Slater has been more than a little influenced by the master of gayporn sleaze, Christopher Rage, in this examination of lust pigs and sexual gypsies from the "gutters and back alleys of San Francisco."
A turn-on? Depends entirely on your own tastes; diehard Rage fans may actually find the raunch too tame. As for technique, Slater resorts to a lot of grainy split-screen and freeze-frame gimmicks, great music (straight off the stereo), and talking-head interviews. You might think you've stumbled onto a XXX-rated cable access show (with occasional scrambled satellite interference). But hey, this is art. Maybe.
