The passion of Joe Gage oozes out of every frame in his latest movie. The first in a two-part (at least) series, this tilts its hat to those campy beach party movies from the ?60s, with a little ode to monster movies thrown in for good measure. The tone is immediately set with some wavy opening credits, the nostalgic score from Tomas Hart (which earns a Best Music pre-nom) and the cheesy-but-loveable backdrop effects that contribute to some fabulous art direction. Ray Dragon is the head lifeguard at a beach full of horn dog eye candy, and the surf season is just getting started. The perfectly cast Mason Wyler (almost too adorable) stands out in the opening threesome, which finds him jacking off with pal Eryk Elliott and party crasher Dylan West. Sucking and fucking ensues, and the scene excels not only in sex, but also in its natural dialogue delivery and beautiful lighting. The closing scene is similarly scorching, with butch computer technician Chuck Scott fucking the hell out of Tony Bishop and Marc Sterling (who unleashes two gushers). In between are two all-oral scenes, and the Zackary Pierce/ George Glass/ Ray Dragon threeway earns a pre-nom for Best Oral Scene. Set as the dream fantasy of Pierce, it intersperses shots from old monster movies with the action, casting the models as larger-than-life, modern-day Godzillas sucking each other over a downtown cityscape. The cliffhanger is almost too much to take, with Pierce's unrequited lust for wildlife worker Glass making us wish we had Part 2 already.

RETAILING: This top-label, top-cast, top-director hit is a summer treat.
